Community Health Event: Raja Garden
UVCT's Target Intervention (TI) team organised a Community Event & Health Camp at Community Area, B Block, Raja Garden, Wazirpur Industrial Area on 27.03.2023. UVCT's TI team works under the project of Delhi State AIDS Control Society (DSACS), Government of India. The event was graced by the presence of ICTC Counselor and Doctors. These type of programmes become more important for the communities, who have limited access to TI services like Clinic STI, CBS and Syphilis testing. During the event Doctors, ICTC Counselor and UVCT team interacted with the patients and provided significant information on required topics.
Many games and activities like musical chair, quiz competition, etc. were also organised to attract people. People actively participated in these activities and enjoyed a lot. Prizes were also given to the winners of these games.
The event was concluded with a vote of thanks to all the guests, stakeholders and participants. Refreshments were also served at the end. It was a successful event and we hope to organize many more in future to spread awareness.
Dr. Rao Encourages Trainees
In every field, encouragement is necessary at every level. Our Founder Chairman Dr. UNB Rao (Ph.D, IIT Delhi), who is a retired IPS officer, often meets our trainees and tries to boost their enthusiasm. In this effort, Dr. Rao visited the Skill Development Center of UVCT at Arilova, Visakhapatnam on 08.01.2024. Trainer Mrs. Savithri ji took him on a tour of the center and introduced him to all the trainees. At present, along with regular courses in tailoring and embroidery, courses are also being run in the center in collaboration with JSS for the less educated and adolescents women from minority groups.
Baking Workshop: Creative Skills
UVCT in collaboration with Canara Bank, Regional Office, West Delhi, organised a workshop on 'Learning Cake and Chocolate Making' to learn Innovative and Creative skills for Baking Industry. The three day's workshop was conducted at UVCT's Skill Development Centre at Tagore Garden, New Delhi. The workshop was for the female vocational trainees from the present and previous batches. Resource person for the workshop, Ms. Alka Jain, is a chef with an experience of 20 years is not only a good mentor but also has hosted and judged many cookery & bakery shows.
She demonstrated the techniques in details and participants learnt to prepare different kind of cakes and chocolates in three days. UVCT believes that the workshop will helps them in findings new ways to be finanancially stable. UVCT thanks the Canara Bank for providing a promising opportunity to our trainees. We also hope that we will continue to jointly organize more such programs.
UVCT's PATHWAYS PROGRAM FOR SCHOOLS:
Behavioral Management Program session at Modern Convent School on 06.12.2023 was a success! We delved into the significance of positive communication and supportive interactions in cultivating a healthy and positive environment. Through various activities, students not only learned the importance of positive communication but also engaged in fostering a sense of positivity and boosting self-esteem. Students were encouraged to think critically about the consequences of their words, promoting a positive and empathetic approach to communication. The session concluded with students filling the Renew Tree with positive thoughts. This reflective writing exercise aimed to engage students in self-awareness, encourage personal responsibility, and foster a proactive approach to behavior improvement. Overall, it was an enriching and insightful session!
UVCT Community Event: Health Awareness
UVCT's TI team organized a community event on 06th November 2023 under the DSACS project. The event at Lal Bagh, Azadpur attended migrants from nearby areas. Dr. UNB Rao, Ph.D (IIT Delhi) IPS (Retd.), Founder Chairperson, UVCT, Sh. BS Negi, Treasurer, UVCT and local counselor, Sh. Sushil Mathur graced the occasion with their presence. Their motivational words encouraged the audience to take care of their health. Mr. VK Kaul DD (Admn.), TI team members were also attended the event. Children from surrounding areas participated in various games and also gave dance performances. Participants received prizes and gifts. The team also performed a play to make awareness on health issues. Snacks were distributed at the end.
Sometimes it becomes quite difficult to work with migrant workers who mostly keep changing their places. The team is working diligently in every difficult situation. We are confident that our efforts will bring change in many lives.
UVNAC Behavioral Workshop: Aggression Awareness
UVNAC conducted a Behavioral Management workshop at Modern Convent School on 27th October 2023. The session by Ms. Terein, Psychologist, UVCT, shedded light on aggression and abusive language use among 8th and 9th grade students. Students bravely shared personal stories, recognizing aggression's roots in emotions like frustration and irritation. Discussions delved into the reasons behind their behavior, including peer influence and social media. The session provided insights into the consequences of aggressive behavior and introduced helpful coping skills. Students found the coping mechanisms helpful and were eager to apply them in their lives, making the workshop a success. Their active involvement and feedback indicated a strong willingness to implement newfound skills for positive change.
UVCT Workshops: Teen Values & Discipline
UVCT is conducting a series of workshops for the students of class VI to class XII in Shiv Vani Model Sr. Sec. School in the month of August, 23. Themes of the workshops were 'Nurturing right values for teens' for the students from class VI to class VIII and 'Need for discipline in a student's life' for the students from class IX to class XII. The workshops were conducted by eminent speakers like Dr. Girish Chaudhary, Advisor (Education), UVCT and Professor Motilal, a distinguished professor of philosophy, University of Delhi along with Ms. Terein, Psychologist, UVCT. It was an enriching experience where useful insights were shared by the speakers. They delved deeper into the realm of Nurturing right values and building healthy interpersonal relationships. During the workshop with senior students, Dr. Shashi introduced pertinent questions regarding discipline. And how can individuals nurture this quality within themselves? The students actively participated in brainstorming sessions that revolved around these thought-provoking queries. Activities in between the sessions were planned to develop their understanding through students' active participation. Ms. Nikita (Assistant Psychologist), Mr. Abhishek (Criminologist) and Ms. Aanya (Intern at UVNAC) provided necessary assistance.
UVCT: Child Rights Session
UVCT conducts many awareness programmes for adolescents along with regular vocational training programmes. In this series, a session was conducted on ‘Child Rights’ in collaboration with Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DLSA) on 10.07.2023. Advocate Neetu Sindhi spoke about POSCO, child marriage, domestic violence and legal aid services. Ms. Neetu Sindhi (LLB) is practicing as an advocate since 2010. She is associated with DLSA west family panel for last three years and delivered 25 lectures till now. The session was very informative for students. She also shared some safety tips with girl trainees. After the group session, students interacted with the advocate on one to one basis and shared their problems and doubts. UVCT thanks DLSA for sensitizing our students on these topics.
UVCT Summer Skills: Govt. School Training
Every year during summer vacation students from different government schools attend UVCT's Skill Development Center situated at Tagore Garden for job training. This year students from Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya Madipur, Government Girls Sr. Sec. School, Tilak Nagar, Government Girls Sr. Sec. School, Rajouri Garden Extn, Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School, Kirti Nagar, Govt. Boys Sr. Sec. School, Rajouri Garden have come for training Computer Application, Tally, Fashion Studies, Textiles, Beauty Culture, Stenography, etc. Other than these courses students and UVCT's vocational trainees are oriented by UVCT Psychologist, Ms. Terein towards life skills. The 'basics of communication skills and self awareness' were inculcated in these growing adolescents. The basic elements of communication such as verbal, non verbal and listening were elaborated through simple and easy activities like pair work and group discussion.
Dr. Kiran Bedi Visits UVNAC: Inspiring Event
UVCT glad to share that Dr. Kiran Bedi, former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and the first woman in India to join the officer ranks of the Indian Police Service (IPS) visited the Urivi Vikram National Centre for Adolescents (UVNAC), Dwarka on the 20th of May, 2023. An event was held under Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) on this day which was attended by School Principals of Dwarka, teachers and students, members of Resident Welfare Association and bodies of Non Governmental Organizations. The event was also attended by students from the neighbouring schools including students of Skill Training Program at UVCT and interacted with Dr. Kiran Bedi. The students had the opportunity to ask questions on topic related to Career, Higher Educations, General Safety, etc. A presentation was also made on the past and ongoing activities at UVCT and the way forward was discussed. Dr Kiran Bedi appreciated and extended her best wishes and support to the Organization.
UVNAC Career Program: Shiv Vani School
Urivi Vikram National Centre For Adolescents (UVNAC) under the aegis of Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust organized a ‘Career orientation programme’ for class X students of Shiv Vani Model Sr. Sec. School, Mahavir Enclave. The school auditorium witnessed one hundred and forty one participants and their teachers hosting Ms. Deepika, Career Counselor warmly and decorously. She stimulated the young and bright minds with a plethora of career choices in return. In the context of NEP 2020 and CUET, these centered around sports, cyber security, paramedical science, astrophysics, foreign languages, petroleum engineering, ceramic engineering, bioengineering, chemical engineering, agricultural science, biotech engineering, food technology, pharmacy, company secretaryship, AI & Machine learning (Robotics), Law, Fine Arts, Travel & Tourism, Merchant Navy, Waste Management and Architecture&Planning. The idea was to streamline the infamous but career choices with equivalent scope into the programme. The participants interacted and responded to the resource person’s several questions during the session. The programme culminated with the last ten minutes earmarked for resolving students’ queries and feedback submission. Life Skills Session: Ms. Terein
A session on Life Skill was taken by UVCT's newly appointed Psychologist - cum - Counselor Ms. Terein on 15th April 2023. The students registered in the Basic Computer Course were attended the session. Some of the sub themes touched by her include talent vs. skill...types of life skills...no. of primary emotions and it's types... difference b/w bargaining and negotiation...sympathy vs. empathy...a brief description of inter personal skills was aided with a little role playing. Students were encouraged to interact throughout the session. The session concluded with insights received from today's sessions by the trainees.
Wazirpur Health Camp: 100 Tested
UVCT's TI team organised Health Camp in Block Cand Bada Bagh in Wazirpur. 100 people were tested during the health camp. ORWs Ms. Manita and Ms. Rekha mobilize local people to participate in the health camp. The TI project is a project granted by Delhi State AIDS Control Society (DSACS) is an autonomous body of Delhi Govt.
HIV/AIDS Awareness Camps
UVCT Target Intervention team organised health camps in Malka Ganj and Lohiya Camp on 07th and 08th February 2023 respectively. The main objective of the health camp was to spread awareness on HIV/AIDS. 100 people from high risks group were tested during the health camps.
UVCT Career Development Session
Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) conducted a session on ‘Career Development and opportunities’ for the vocational trainees of computer, dress designing, typing, stenography and beauty culture. The session was delivered by Mr. Pradeep Chaudhary, who advocates for the cause of ‘employability among youth’ by providing career guidance to the students of IX and X standard in government schools.
A heterogeneous group of 23-25 participants included homemakers, working individuals, school and college students etc. It commenced with a short introduction of the speaker by Mr. Vijay Kaul, Deputy Director, UVCT. Firstly, the speaker asked the participants to not only introduce themselves but also to share their plan after completion of their respective courses. The speaker left no stone unturned to engage with students through flowcharts, a discussion for a short time among themselves and a Q/A round at the end. The workshop was interspersed with wide sub themes such as the broad divisions within a company, attributes of a great employee, motivation, communication, search of an interest area, preparatory measures for any govt. competitive exams and growth of industries such as travel and tourism, hotels etc. in the post pandemic era.
Mr. Chaudhary guided the participants on their career plans for the future through focused and meaningful interaction at length. As a result, some resources on academics and government vacancies surfaced before the audience. The duration of the session was two hours. The session concluded with a vote of thanks to the resource person on behalf of the organization for his time, energy and valuable insights rooted in his years of work experience.
UVCT Pathway Workshops: Adolescence & Careers
UVCT organised two more workshops under its Pathway Program for Schools. These workshops were organised with two different groups at Shokeen International School, Chhawla - Dwarka Road on 23rd Jan. 2023 (Monday). The secondary school was established in a remote area cut off from the Chhawla village and Najafgarh in 2004 by Late Sh. Naresh Shokeen.
A workshop on 'Coping with Adolescence' was delivered to the students of class VI - VIII y Prof. Girish Choudhary and Ms. Nikita, Asst. Psychologist, UVNAC. It aimed at spreading awareness about the sudden and rapid changes within the individual for their better adjustment with themselves and their environment.
The students of Class IX and X were addressed in the 'Career Counseling' workshop by Mr. Pradeep Chaudhary. It encouraged them to embark on a journey of exploration of numerous career opportunities and self discovery. Shokeen International School

UVNAC Hosts CISE Members: Insights & Memories
Urivi Vikram National Centre For Adolescents hosted members of Centre for Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship and it's Convenor/ Founder, Prof. (Dr) Roopinder Oberoi on 3rd Dec. 2022 (Saturday).
Thirteen first and second year students from several courses offered at Kirori Mal College introduced themselves, first.They were toured through the edifice by UVCT's core team led by Ms. Shivani, Account Officer.
Dr. Gita Bamezai, Principal Advisor and Sh. B.S Negi, General Secretary of the organisation too graced the occasion with their benign presence. Dr. UNB Rao, the founder of the organisation chronicled the journey of UVCT over the years in the backdrop of it's CSR funded projects. He offered a few suggestions for the development of the CISE on the lines of UVCT's work in the past. For eg. Setting up an adolescent centre, conducting cultural festivals like 'Hum Kishore', rehabilitation programmes for juvenile delinquents etc. He mentioned areas for improvement on part of the organisation as well for instance, media coverage. Prof. Bamezai and Negi Sir also enlightened the students through their words of wisdom.
The students curiously asked questions about the inspiration and challenges involved in setting up of an adolescent centre back in 1991. These were answered by the dignitaries in position. The students also interviewed the Vice Chairman, Ms. Urivi Chaya post lunch.
Overall, UVNAC was happy to share it's experience with a bunch of young, bright and enthusiastic young adults.
Hope, that they too, had useful insights in particular and good memories in general.
Special Talk on Coping with Adolescence
A special lecture has been conducted by Dr. UNB Rao (Ph.D, IIT Delhi, IPS, Retd.), ounder and Chairperson, UVCT on 'How to deal with adolescents?' The workshop was conducted at Shiksha Bharati Global School on 02.12.2022, wherein Dr. Rao emphasized the role of teachers in bringing the students up in a healthy manner. All teachers and staff member of the school attended the lecture.
Vocational Training Courses at UVNAC
Dr. UNB Rao (Ph.D, IIT Delhi, IPS, Retd.), Founder and Chairperson, UVCT, is always striving to make his vision meaningful. Adding another milestone to its mission, UVCT has constructed a computer lab in it’s headquarter located in Urivi Vikram National Adolescents Centre (UVNAC building) at Dwarka, Sector – 22, New Delhi.
Computer courses will include Computer Basics and Advanced, Tally, Graphics Designing. Financial Literacy, Spoken English and Life Skills education will also be given in addition to computer courses.There are many such institutions in Dwarka, but the specialty of the institute located in UVNAC is that it will give priority to a child who could not completed her/his school education for any reason. And those who want to learn and earn a living for themselves and their families. In the absence of school education, sometimes there is a feeling of lack of self-confidence in children. Life skills education is imparted here for children, which helps one in managing not only one's life but also the people of one's family and surroundings.
All these courses will be conducted at very low fees, so that more and more needy children can take advantage of it.
JSS-UVCT: Tailoring & Painting Exam
Jan Shikshak Sansthan (JSS) - UVCT's Skill Development Centre conducted exam for the sturdents of Tailoring and Painting Courses. Three months' course ended on 30th November 2022.
UVCT Pathway Program for Schools
Choosing a right career involves self-evaluation of talents, capabilities and wellbeing. An appropriate occupation means economic security which plays key role in overall well-being. Many a time lack of right information hinders the process of making the right decision. Recognizing this, UVCT is collaborating with the schools in Dwarka, New Delhi to conduct workshops on Career Guidance at the school level.
1)First workshop was organized at Shiksha Bharati Global School (SBGS) school for the students of class 10 on November 21, 2022. The session was addressed by Ms. Mohini Thukran and assisted by Ms. Nikita. The session was observed by Dr. Girish Chaudhary. Mrs. Manisha Kaushal, Principal, SBGS and Ms. Samita, School counselor actively participated in the session. A total of 117 students of class 10 attended the session. At the end, participants were given feedback forms to obtain truthful responses.
2)Career Workshop: UVCT conducted second workshop on Career Guidance in Shiksha Bharati Global School (SBGS) for the students of class 12 on November 22, 2022. However, most of the students have already decided what their career choice would be after 10th. But with the increasing competitions and changes in the demands of the employment market, it becomes a bit difficult to take right decision. And that is why the topic of our class 12 workshop was: What to do after Class 12th? The session was addressed by Ms. Mohini and assisted by Ms. Nikita.
3) Healthy Relationship: UVCT organised a workshop at Modern Convent School, Dwarka on a very important topic 'Healthy Relationships'. During the 1st day on 23rd November 2022, the session was conducted by Ms. Mohini Thukran, Psychologist, UVCT and assisted by Ms Nikita. The session was concluded with the expert remarks made by Professor Girish Chaudhary. It was an interactive session, in which students actively participated in the session and participated actively by asking questions and raising their doubts. UVCT thanks the Principal and the staff members of the school, for their support during the session.
4) UVCT conducted 2nd workshop for all the students of class XIth at Modern Convent School, Dwarka on 24th Nov.’22. It was addressed by Ms. Mohini Thukran and assisted by Ms. Nikita. The session was observed by Ms. Girish Chaudhary and the respective teachers of class XIth. Dr. Priti Gulati, the school counselor observed and supported the programme along with the school Principal, Dr. Sheetal Mann. A powerpoint presentation was used for elaborating on various issues of the given subject. Students took keen interest in the session and responded to the questions posed at them by the speaker enthusiastically. As per the feedback forms filled by the students, the workshop was found to be unusual, beneficial and satisfactory for most of the participants.
5) Need for Discipline: UVCT conducted 3rd workshop on 'Need for discipline' at Modern Convent School, Dwarka by Ms. Mohini Thukran, Psychologist, UVNAC assisted by Ms. Nikita. The workshop conducted on 25th November 2022 and was observed by Dr. Girish Chowdhary and teachers of the school. The workshop was an interactive one and activities related to the discipline were conducted by the students during the event like goal visualisation. The workshop was concluded with the guidance by Dr. Girish about the various aspects of a disciplined life.
6) 'Building Healthy Inter Personal Relationships and Right Values': UVCT conducted two workshops on 'Building Healthy Inter Personal Relationships and Right Values' at Basava International School for the students of class VIII and class IX on 08th and 09th December respectively. The workshop was led by UVCT's Psychologist, Ms. Mohini Thukran. It was guided by Prof. Girish Choudhary, and assisted by Ms. Nikita. Students actively participated in Q/A session and in all the activities including 'Tag the thing'. In another activity students were requested to indulge in introspect within for a minute.... about their own healthy and unhealthy relationships. Girish Ma'am concluded the workshop by addressing the students about the 'barriers in healthy inter personal relationships '. UVCT thanks the Principal Ma'am, staff members and students of Basava International School for their support and active participation.

UVCT - Childline Centre and Subcentre at Kalyan Railway Station and Thane respectively have started 'Childline Se Dosti' campaign from 14th November. During the one week's long celebration, many activities will be run by the centres to create awareness on issues related to children and their rights.
1) On 14th November an awareness program was organized at Bhiwandi. The team met the children and explained the work of the organization and spread awareness about 1098. Children also participated in the speech competition, Hon'ble Chief Judicial Magistrate Juvenile Justice Board Bhiwandi Mr. Seema B. Ghute graced the occassion and provided necessary support.
2) On 17/11/22 children's day program was conducted at Open House, Shramik Mahila Mandal, Ulhasnagar-4. One to one interaction was made with the children and a practical orientation was given on handicraft with paper art work. Children also showcased their talent by reciting some poems. After the prgrammes snacks were distributed among the children. UVCT would like to thank the superintendent and staff there for their valuable support.
3) A workshop was held on November 18, 2022. During the workshop many issues were discussed among Child Officer, Child Welfare Committee on how to plan the work and care and protection of children. Mrs. Suvarna Mhaske and Mrs. Swati More attended the workshop on behalf of UVCT.
4) On 22nd November 2022, the team visited the tribal area of Thakur Pada Anand Nagar Ambernath. Awareness campaign included the issues of child labor, importance of education for children, 1098 and child marriage. Various sports activities were organised for the childrens.

Dr. UNB Rao, Ph.D (IIT Delhi), IPS (Retd.), who is the Founder and Chairperson of Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) has been honoured with the Mahatma Award for Lifetime Achievement- 2022’ in recognition of his impactful work with adolescents, young lives and his lifetime contribution to social causes. The Mahatma Award is founded by social entrepreneur Amit Sachdeva and supported by Aditya Birla Group, which recognizes and celebrates impact leaders and change makers across the globe. The facilitation programme was organised at Indian International Centre on 01.10.2022.
Born in a middle-class family, Dr. Rao excelled in studies and in the first attempt got selected for Police Service. He performed his police service commendably, which culminating in receiving the ‘Police Medal for Meritorious Services’ and ultimately the most prestigious ‘President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services’.
After the tragic death of his only son (URIVI VIKRAM), in a road accident in 1990, Dr. Rao with his family chose to dedicate himself to the national cause, nay world cause by establishing ‘Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust’ for empowering adolescents (aged 10 to 19 yeas). In the direction of Dr. Rao, UVCT has played a pioneering role in obtaining a distinct status for ‘Adolescents’ in the Indian planning system and programmatic initiatives and established the first ever National Centre for Adolescent in Dwarka, Sector-22, New Delhi. It focuses on a wide range of adolescent centric issues including Life Skill Education. Among many other development programmes, UVCT has undertaken projects for women empowerment and awareness campaigns on public health, environmental protection and reformation/rehabilitation of delinquents. UVCT is working in six states of India – Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, and Telangana, besides a Chapter in the USA -through Government Schemes, UN Organisations, PSUs and individual donors.
Dr. Rao has not ever looked for recognitions and self-glorification. He believed in work and work alone. Dr Rao played both the roles with aplomb: both as an IPS officer and a Social Worker equally well, he remained non-controversial and apolitical. His accomplishments perhaps amply deserve him “Mahatma Award for Life long achievements” and many such accolades.

Congratulations Rakesh for securing 3rd position in the PPT competition organised by UVCT's collaborator, the NIIT FOUNDATION NReach team on the topic of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav'. 70+students participated with full enthusiasm and gave presentations.

Gita Bamezai, the Principal Advisor of UVCT. Mr. Ashwani Khanna, the Fund Advisor of UVCT also graced the occasion. Members from the headquarter, Skill Development Centre at Tagore Garden, Delhi and the HIV/AIDS Target Intervention project team, Wazirpur in Delhi gathered under one roof. Mr. Kaul, Deputy Director of UVCT greeted all dignitaries and staff members. The participants shared their inspirational journey and challenges in achieving successes in pursuit of their goals. The objectives of the event were to felicitate TI members for their performance for the first quarter of the year and also to announce the Employee of the Year for the year 2021-21. Ms. Rekha, Ms. Neetu, Mr. Vicky, Ms. Sushila, Ms. Manitaand Mr. Bhaskar along with their Programme Manager (Mr. Dinesh), Counsellor (Mr. Jai Prakash) and M&E Officer (Mr. Vishnu) were felicitated with flowers and awarded cash prizes. Ms. Shivani Soni was awarded with a trophy, case prize and a certificate for the Best Employee for the year. The event concluded with an HI- Tea in the cafeteria.

In this sequence a one-day multipurpose camp was organised by DSLSA in the premised of UVCT’s Skill Development Centre at Tagore Garden on 23rd July, 2022. The objectives of the camp were to update the Aadhar Card/ Voter ID card and providing free COVID vaccination to the people from the vicinity. About 150 people from the surrounding areas of Raghubir Nagar and Tagore Garden have come to avail the free services provided during the camp. Doctors from MCD Clinics have come for the vaccination. The legal advisor and students from DSLSA have addressed the people on the spot and also provided them free counselling on legal matters.

Inauguration of Display Trolleys at UVCT’ Childline, Kalyan Railway Station
Childline is a 24 hours national helpline for children in the age of 0 to 18 years. Any concerned person or child can call on 1098 helpline for the care and protection of a child. UVCT Childline in Kalyan Railway station is working since 2018 and has successfully handed over more than 1300 children to their parents or the concerned authorities till July 2021 Dr. Rao, Founder and Chairman, UVCT during his latest visit to Childline centre on 06.07.22, inaugurated a display trolley, which will display information related to Childline and its work. Station Manager Mr. Anup Kumar Jain, Dr. Girish Kumar and Dr. Smita Chitre also graced the occasion with their presence. A review meeting was also held, where staff members from the Childline centre at Kalyan and Childline subcentre at Thane rural explained their work and issues.
Career Guidance Workshop at Skill Development Centre, Tagore Garden
The most vulnerable stage in terms of career is high school. Uncertainty and lack of clarity force most students toward making wrong career choices. Understanding this dilemma of adolescents, UVCT conducted a free orientation workshop on Career Guidance for students at Skill Development Centre, Tagore Garden on 18.06.2022. The primary objective of the session was to make the students understand that planning the career is the first and the most important step towards a right career selection.

Vocational/Technical Skills are said to be incomplete without imparting 'Life Skills Education' (LSE). According to 'WHO',LSE are abilities to bring in positive and adaptive behavioral changes that enable us to deal effectively with 'stress', 'demands' of everyday life. UVCT is pushing the envelope by infusing the two which narrows down the gap between skills in-demand usually taught at Institutes and ones required for smooth navigation through life. Therefore, our students celebrated the 'hussle' and 'hassle' of regular lives through a free Life Skills orientation course on 8th June 2022 at Skill Development Centre, Tagore Garden.
Orientation Session on Financial Literacy for Students
Financial Literacy is the ability to understand skills to manage financial resources effectively for a lifetime of financial well-being. The skills include personal financial management, budgeting, and investing. Studies indicate that financial literacy educational interventions in high school appear to have a positive impact on knowledge and measurable financial behaviors.
Recognising its importance, UVCT conducted one-day free orientation session on Financial Literacy for the students from various Government Schools, who come for job-training to UVCT’s Skill Development Centre at Tagore Garden. The session was delivered on 04.06.2022 by Mr. VK Kaul, DD (Admin), UVCT. Mr. Kaul has served as Chief Manager, State Bank of India for many years.

The workshop emphasised on some crucial practices such as client centred therapy, Humanistic and Existential perspective. Overall, it was an interactive and informative workshop.

Inauguration of ‘Achintya Tejas Conference Hall’ by Shri Tejendra Khanna, former Lt. Governor of Delhi & Consultative Meet on ‘Adolescents and Social Media’ A consultative meet on the theme “Adolescents and Social Media” was held on 12th February, 2020 at Urivi Vikram National Centre for Adolescents (UVNAC), Dwarka, New Delhi. The meeting marked the inaugural of the ‘Achintya Tejas Conference Hall’ 5 Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust at Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust. The conference hall is named in the memory of Dr. Rao’s grandson and a wonderful soul, late. Achintya Tejas Garikaparthi, who was killed in a road accident in Bahamas at an age of 19 years. The meet was attended by academicians, school principals, counsellors, media persons, journalists, police personnel, practitioners, NGOs representatives and other professionals with similar interests. The chief guest on the occasion, Shri Tejendra Khanna, former Lt. Governor of Delhi, in his address shared his concern on the loss of moral values and reading habits in today’s children and youth; emphasized the role of parents and teachers and called for building a balance between inner life and outer life, based on TRUE LOVE between all beings. Dr. N Bhaskara Rao, founder Chairman, Centre for Media Studies (CMS), in his inaugural address cognized the important role and potential of social media for connectivity and communication.
Childline se Dosti Campaign on 15-17 November 2019
Childline se DOSTI campaign conducted on Kalyan station on 15th ,16th and 17th November 2019, a great initiative to build up a Rapport with the RPF,GRP, Govt hospitals. Childline staff dressed in traditional outfits and armed with Childline se DOSTI bands, banners visited the station manager office, the cleaners, the GRP/RPF, later the hospital staff..who were given orientation on childline and the work that is being carried out by childline team..they were very impressed by the efforts taken and work done by childline team. specially the Doctors were excited about the 1098 initiative.. and requested it to be on a much broad scale across the city.
One day workshop on SPSS on 19.10.2019
UVCT organised a successful workshop on SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences), a statistical tool which is widely used in academics by researchers, students and professionals. The workshop, conducted by Ms. Arshiya Kochar (MSc. University of Kent), was attended by about 75 students and professionals, in two Sessions.The software was provided to the participants and hands-n practice during the Session. The participants were also extended online guidance for one week after the workshop.

BPCL Joins UVCT for the Reformation and Life Skills Programme at Tihar on 01.08.2019
UVCT gained BPCL’s support from 1st August 2019 for its innovative project which was started by the UVCT in 2017. The project, first of its kind in India, where young offenders(aged 18 to 21 yrs) are put to reformation processes through Life Skill Education, backed by psychoanalytical therapies, vocational guidance and rehabilitation support. This holistic support is provided to bring down the spiralling trends of crime and re-integrating young offenders into main-stream of the society.
Workshop on MHM (Menstrual Hygiene Management) on 27.06.2019
To improve the menstrual health of our female students we organized a 1-day workshop on 27 June of Menstrual hygiene management. The main motive of the workshop is to aware students about the misconception about menstruation and various tools and techniques to use in their cycle to prevent various diseases and to maintain their hygiene.

Launch of Saksham II on 15.06.2019
The first Principal’s meet was held in the gracious presence of the Chairman Dr. U N B Rao and Vice Chairman Mrs. Urivi Chaya Rao. The Deputy Education Officer of North East Mumbai inaugurated the meet. The MGL officials, Mrs. Neera Asthana (Deputy Manager - CSR), Mr. Nishant Sinha (CSR - Manager), Mrs. Namita Vanmalli also graced the occasion with their presence.
It took so much time and hardwork in strategizing and planning the project before its final implementation. Our remedial teachers were well trained and motivated to take up the challenge. With full gusto they started work by taking up the schools designated to them as per their subject expertise. It was indeed a herculean task for the teachers to start from A B C, but a sustained and diligent effort worked well. With the cooperation of the principals and regular teachers did yield the fruits of labour. A uniformed syllabus and decided conspectus of selected topics for each subject and each standard with a set of books given to the teacher made it meticulous and systemized learning for students. Some Principals demanded for more teaching time from our teachers.
Awareness Camp in Slum Areas on 28.05.2019
UVCT organized a community survey and awareness campaign in the slum areas of Tagore Garden and Raghubir Nagar. The main purpose of the campaign is to make people aware of their Fundamental rights that are provided by the Constitution of India.
Certificate distribution at Tihar Jail | January 11, 2018
Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) held an event for Certificate distribution to acknowledge students who have successfully completed Life Skill Education programme. The event was graced by Deputy Superintendents Mr. Dinesh and Ms Kiran, as well as UVCT staff members including trainers at central Jail No. 5. UVCT had been extending its efforts to reform and rehabilitate young people in conflict with law in Tihar Jail for 18-21yrs old boys. We are working as a part of Better Life Pri School project which a consolidated effort of various NGOs working for Reformation and Rehabilitation of young offenders inside the jail. An entire ward is converted to Educational Ward where we are working since August, 2017 A team of Criminologist, Psychologist and volunteers has been deputed for delivering Life Skills Education and counselling to both first time offenders and repeaters. We have managed to touch lives of over 700 inmates directly and many of their family members indirectly till date.

One Day workshop was held on 6th Jan 2018 (Saturday) at Urivi Vikram National Center for Adolescents, UVNAC building, Sector 22, Dwarka New Delhi 77. The Theme of the workshop was “LEARN TO BE A GOOD COUNSELLER”. Around 23 Participants were present in the workshop. The Workshop was co-ordinated by Ms Mrinalini Kotwal (Asst Counsellor). This workshop was facilitated by Renowned Sr. Psychologist Dr Daya Pant (Retd Professor NCERT) and Dr Rashmi Agarwal Sr Psychologist. The session started with Ice breaking session where all the participants got to know each other better with a small fun activity. The first half of the session was taken by Dr Daya Pant and she covered the topics such as Basics of Counselling, Techniques of counselling and few practice sessions. Second half of the session was taken by Dr Rashmi Agarwal (Sr. Psychologist) who covered topics such as Attributes of a good counsellor, types of counselling and interventions in counselling followed by few practice sessions. We had a great response and positive feedback from the participants for the workshop.
Counselling & Career Guidance Programme | January 04th-05th-06th, 2018
Counselling and Career Guidance Programmes were organized in Srikakulam District, Andhra Pradesh at Patharlapalli, Kotabommali, & haridasupuram villages on 04th, 05th and 06th January, 2018 respectively.The main objectives of the program were to create awareness about various career opportunities, gender related issues, memory techniques, study habits, options available after 10th, and open school system On 04th the program was for High School Students of patharlapalli. The program was to make them aware of the different career options available and impart them with few life skills (thinking, social, negotiation, communication, decision making) that would help in their personality development. Around 600 students participated On 05th, it was held at Zilla Parishad Girls high School, kotabommali. The main objectives of the program were to create awareness about various career options available, gender related issues (guidance of stage of Adolescence & implications) and also to supplement them with some studying and Memory techniques. Around 1,100 girls students participated. On 6th the program was for Govt high school of haridasupuram. The program was to make them aware of the different career options available, impart them with few life skills that would help in their personality development, study habits, memory techniques and stage of adolescents & its implications (physical, emotional, psychological). Around 300 students participated.

After the seventh Hum kishore festival for school children, the National Seminar was held on 6th Dec, 2017 at India International Centre (IIC).The seminar continued with the release of the Annual Year Report and silver jubilee publication.

HAPPY Project | September 25, 2017
Urivi Vikaram Charitable trust along with other 5 NGOS in Mumbai have undertaken a new project titled “HAPPY Project” (Health Action Program for the progress of youth) with Program support from DESH Foundation (Deepam educational society for health.) and Technical support from Tata Institute of Social Sciences. The Main Focus of Happy Project is promoting healthy lifestyle practice, Reducing and preventing the health risks among school going (6th to 12th class) adolescence youths. UVCT educate children in schools covering seven thematic areas that are (Health and Hygiene, Mental Health, substance abuse, life skills, injuries and violence, communicable and non communicable disease, sexual and reproductive health).
UVCT in Better life Prison School launch at Tihar | September 25, 2017
UVCT actively participated in the launch of “Better Life Pri School” in Jail No.5, which was on 25th September 2017, formally inaugurated by Mr Manish Sisodia – Deputy CM of Delhi and Education Minister of Delhi. This is an innovative approach realized by the Prison Department of Delhi for youth at risk between the age group of 18 years and 21 years. UVCT played a prominent role through its programmes of ‘Life Skill Education’ and ‘Psychological Counseling’, in formulating the theme for the prison school. The Chief guest applauded the contributions of UVCT and other organizations by saying that even a special order from the government cannot bring out such a grand concept of a school; wherein besides education, life skills, skill training, drug de-addiction and other important facts of the life of prison can be dealt with.

Life Skills Education | August 9th - 11th, 2017
Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) organized a three days workshop at Urivi Vikram National Centre for adolescents (UVNAC), from 9th August (Wednesday) to 11th August (Friday) 2017, on the theme, “Life Skills for Trainers”. The Workshop was co-ordinated by the honorary Resource Persons:- Ms. Piyali Acharya (Training Coordinator), Prof. Sudhir Kapoor (Training Consultant) to conduct the sessions on life skills education. The workshop began with the introductory session, followed by a Pre-Test on Life Skills Assessment, establishing Ground Rules, understanding on life skills, handling emotions, risky behavior, substance abuse, life skills - concept, core values, importance in daily life, gender sensitization, gender discrimination, gender relations, friendship, peer pressure, physical, emotional changes in adolescents, health & hygiene, Career Planning, using life skills in career making, Post assessment test, valediction address, distribution of certificates.
