NATIONAL MEETS FOR ADOLESCENTS
National Seminar on “Mainstreaming Skills in Education”
To commemorate the rich glory of 25 years of working for the development and empowerment of adolescents and young adults,
in the silver jubilee year, the National Seminar was held on 6th Dec, 2017 at India International Centre (IIC), New Delhi.
The Purpose was to discuss the present scenario of imparting skills in Education at various levels (Schools, Colleges and institutes).
To Understand the challenges faced by the various stakeholders in this direction and find a way forward to introduce skills in our Education
in a smooth way. The Seminar was inaugurated by Prof. Anil D Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).
The Seminar was acively particpated by specialists like Neela Dabir, Dean School of Vocational education in Tata Institute of Social Sciences
(TISS); Dr Amita Dev, Principal Director of Bhai Parmanand Institute of Business studies; Mr. Maneesh Garg, IAS, Joint secretary,
Ministry of Human Resource Development, GOI; Prof Santosh Mehrotra, Jawahar Lal Nehru University; Dr Suman Dhawan, Dy Dir (Academic),
Directorate of Training and Technical Education; Mr Tod Steven Etheredge, Clinton Fellow with America India Foundation. Prof Rajesh P Khambayat,

NATIONAL MEET FOR ADOLESCENTS - MAY 2015
National Seminar on ‘Demographic Dividend: Challenges of Young People in India” was held on 6th May 2015 at
India International Centre, New Delhi. The seminar elaborated in detail on the perspective of the Young People as
demographic dividend and discussed their holistic development and challenges.
The Seminar also attempted to explore how we can avail India’s advantage and draw a way forward for
more informed mechanisms to take stock of youth development in India. Policy makers, Scholars and Activists
from multi-disciplinary background across the country participated in deliberations with an aim to propose a set
of doable recommendations for youth development in India.
NATIONAL MEET FOR ADOLESCENTS - JULY 2005
The Trust held yet another National Meet in July 2005 on theme ‘ Adolescents : Vision 2020’ in order to draw the attention of the policy makers and relevant segments of the society about the challenges being faced by and opportunities available for the adolescents , in our endeavors to make India a Super Power by year 2020. About 80 experts and 500 adolescents, from different parts of the country, participated in the Trust.
NATIONAL MEET FOR ADOLESCENTS - JULY 1999
The Trust held a National Meet in July 1999, on the theme ‘Towards a Policy for Young Adults’. The outcome of the meet was brought-out into an advocacy document for a ‘National Policy for Young Adults’, which was submitted to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat and the Planning Commission of India. Appreciating the endeavors of the Trust, the Planning Commission of India, constituted a Working Group, including the Trust as a Member, which brought out a ‘Report on Adolescents (June 2001). In pursuance, the first ever ‘Scheme for Development and empowerment of Adolescents’ came into being under the Min. of Youth Affairs & Sports (MYAS) (April 2004). UVCT, thus, deserves to be credited for finding a due place to ‘Adolescents’ in the scheme of Indian planning.
